My Final Theory

So everyone, what do you think about spirituality now that I have shown you all of this information? By looking at what I found on the internet it only pulled me closer to what I thought in the beginning. Spirituality should be considered a form of multiple intelligence. There are a lot more people in the world who are gifted and they should be taught how to use their gifts the proper way. I think spirituality is more then that though. It's more to me then just a religious belief or anything of the sort...IT''S A WAY OF LIFE! You can be spiritual and not be religious or maybe you are, either way in my beliefs, spirituality is a positive thing. Good things can happen in your life if you want them to. The human mind is our tool and we should learn (at an earlier age the better) to expand our hearts, our minds, and our souls and be open to love and whatever it is that brings good to our lives.

Thank you my dear friends for reading my blog and looking over the information I have found from many different sources on the web. I hope that it is useful to you and maybe if you see my blog and your not spiritual...perhaps you might change your mind after looking over what I have found and please feel free to comment me as I would love to hear feedback on my topic.

The meaning of Spiritual Intelligence

According to Wikipedia and I quote "Spiritual intelligence is a term used to discern a suite or set of propensities comprising: perceptions, intuitions ,cognition, etc., related to spirituality and/or religiosity, especially spiritual capital.  It has been discredited by its detractors as pseudoscientific due to its employment in popular psychology and New Age Discourse. As the term and phenomenon of spirituality and the anthropological and sociological dimension of this human endeavour is challenging to define—a persistent incorrigible intangible—it poses a significant challenge for scientific methodology and analyses, which for veracity, requires categorical criteria to model, chart, and compare. In spite of both its popular currency and its protracted retraction, spiritual intelligence as an emergent viable construct within psychology, bolstered particularly by Transpersonal Psychlogy, is receiving considerable scholarship.

Howard Gardner, the originator of the theory of multiple intelligences chose not to include spiritual intelligence amongst his "intelligences" due to the challenge of codifying quantifiable scientific criteria. Instead, Gardner suggested an "existential intelligence" as viable. Gardner's peers have responded with research that charts existential thinking as fundamental to spirituality. Notwithstanding, Gardner established the scientific foundation within the discipline of education theory and its interdisciplinarity, that has yielded the emergence of spiritual intelligence discourse"

So in my own words I think that the meaning of spirituality is to be open minded to the awareness of the outside or inside realms of the conscious and unconscious mind. One must be connected with they self, the earth and the cosmos, the universe, and to others. One must see things in a different light. This isn't a scientific meaning that I have said her, this is just my opinion and what appears to be the opinion of others on what I have gotten from some of the research I have read from MANY different sources on the actual meaning of spirituality on the web.  I could go into detail but that is rather time consuming and not to mention that I did already put the meaning that I found on Wikipedia for you above.

(If you click on the title of this post it will direct you to the page on Wikipedia where I found the meaning on Spiritual Intelligence. If you scroll down the page you will see some contents that help you to better understand the meaning to spiritual intelligence if you have trouble reading my quote).

Spiritual Intelligence in the classroom.

This is an Article Database site done by Dr. Dorothy Sisk who is the director of the gifted Child Center and former director of the U.S. Office of Gifted and Talented in Washington, DC. This site was shown to me by my teacher and I thought that everyone should read it as it has some very interesting information on the subject of spirituality and gifted children. It's really good. I liked it and I do hope that you will too.

A video about spirituality from YouTube

This is a video called "Mastery of Light ascended master teachers".
By clicking on the Title it will direct you to the video. This video is just one of many from a site called "The Gold Ring" well the actual site url isn't called that. The actual site is...      http://goldring.wetpaint.com
but I wanted to tell you about it before you went to it. These video's are visually creative. The creators of the site and the video's are simply trying to open people's eyes or at least that's what I'm getting from it. If you want to check out the site you'll have to type it in manually as I only set this up to go to that one video. It's like a teaser for the others. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and if you didn't well that's ok too. I live by the saying "To each his/her own"

Spirituality as a Multiple Intelligence

Why is it that spirituality isn't considered its own intelligence?

Many people often have wondered the same thing. Howard Gardner has come up with the theory of the different eight multiple intelligences, but is it possible that there are more then that? Why is it that spirituality, mechanics, and ethics aren't considered forms of multiple intelligences as well? Shouldn't there be more of these things taught in education? Isn't that important too? I have done some research on all of this and what I have found is very interesting... I feel the need to share this with you as this subject hasn't really been brought to the front burner in a while. A lot of what was written in this post is me just speaking my mind.

You can actually learn a lot about multiple intelligences if you read Howard Gardner's books one of which is..."Intelligence Reframed: Multiple Intelligences for the 21st century". Along with this book there are others which are related to this same topic. Dr.Howard Gardner came up with the theory of multiple intelligences in 1983 while he was a professor of education at Harvard University. The eight multiple intelligences that he did focus on are...

Linguistic Intelligence("word smart")
Logical-mathematical Intelligence("number/reasoning smart")
Spatial Intelligence("picture/artistic/visual smart")
Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence("body smart")
Musical Intelligence("music smart")
Interpersonal Intelligence("people smart")
Intrapersonal Intelligence("self smart")
Naturalist Intelligence("nature smart")

The Naturalist Intelligence was the last intelligence that Gardner added to his theory and it is said that he believes spirituality as more of a naturalist intelligence then that of it's own. I personally believe that spirituality is one of those major things that children and adults are lacking in now a days. I don't mean religion, no, i simply mean spirituality as a whole. Being more in-tune with ourselves and our beliefs as not just individuals but also as a whole. We should be teaching our children to work together more and tap into that inner divine power it is that we all have inside of ourselves as human beings, our cores, our souls, and now more then ever teachers should be teaching things about spirituality in school. I mean, wouldn't it be cool if the future children were attending a school similar but not exactly the same as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter books and movies? Sorry that was a random sentence but it was just a thought. I feel as if a lot of people have truly lost touch with the spiritual side of themselves and perhaps that is the reason as to why it's less important or why our teachers don't focus on it in their teachings. It seems that now a days though sadly enough,it's all about the money to a lot of people and looking out for number one and it shouldn't be that way.
I think that creative powers and being able to channel those special skills is one of those things that makes artists such great artists but then again, that too is considered more of a spatial intelligence. If you think about it though I think that perhaps in some way all of the intelligences are found in all of us. Some people just happen to use more of certain ones then others and use them in their education or even focus on using them more after school in there daily life. Like me for example, I'm gifted with spatial intelligence along with musical and naturalist intelligences. However, someone like my boyfriend would be more gifted with Bodily-Kinesthic intelligence and Logical-mathematical intelligences. It's a interesting topic really...

What do you think? Do you agree with me that there should be more spirituality in education or do you like it the way it is by just focusing on the eight intelligences?
